Comme chaque année, The Broadway League et The American Theatre Wing récompensent le meilleur de ce qui se fait sur les différentes scènes de Broadway pour la saison 2018-2019. Au total : 26 catégories et 5 nommés dans chacune d’entres elles.
Si l’année dernière Mean Girl et Bob l’éponge ont obtenu le plus de nominations (12), c’est finalement The Band’s Visit qui a récolté un max de statuettes, dont celui de la meilleure musique. Cette année, c’est Hadestown qui tire son épingle du jeu avec 14 nominations. Ce revival du mythe d’Orphée et d’Euridice est bien parti pour briller, mais attention à Ain’t Too Proud : The Life and Times of Temptations et à Tootsie avec respectivement 12 et 11 nominations.
La 73ème édition des Tony Awards sera diffusée le dimanche 9 juin à 20h, au Radio City Music Hall. La cérémonie sera présentée par le désormais culte, James Corden.
